Unit 8 · Project 4Final Project

Woven Dreamcatcher

The final step is adding the hanging decorations — feathers, additional beads, yarn tassels, fabric strips, or other found materials — and finishing the piece for display. The decorations should hang from the bottom of the hoop and feel balanced and intentional. Your dreamcatcher should be display-ready: a hanging loop at the top, all knots secured, and all loose ends trimmed or tucked. This is a piece you should be proud to hang on a wall.

Objectives

  • 1
Hanging loop attached securely at the top
  • 2
At least 3 hanging decoration strands at the bottom
  • 3
All knots secured and loose ends trimmed
  • 4
    Piece hangs straight and balanced
  • 5
Overall design feels intentional and complete

Materials

  • Your completed web hoop
  • Feathers, beads, yarn, fabric strips for decorations
  • Additional thread for attaching decorations
  • Scissors

Tips & Techniques

1Hang your hoop at eye level while adding decorations — you need to see how it looks hanging
2Odd numbers of decoration strands (3, 5, 7) look more balanced than even numbers
3Vary the lengths of your hanging strands for visual interest
4Secure all knots with a tiny dab of clear nail polish or fabric glue — they won't loosen over time
