Unit 10 · Project 4Final Project

Year-End Reflection

Your final piece of writing for the year is a reflective essay about your journey as an artist in this class. It should be 3–5 paragraphs and address: what you knew about art and design before this class, what surprised you most about the work, which project challenged you the most and what you learned from it, which project you're most proud of and why, and how you see yourself as a creative person now compared to September. This is your last word on the year — make it honest and specific.

Objectives

  • 1
    Essay is 3–5 paragraphs
  • 2
    Addresses all 5 reflection prompts
  • 3
Specific — names projects, techniques, and moments rather than speaking in generalities
  • 4
Honest — includes challenges and failures, not just successes

Materials

  • Computer for writing
  • Your project portfolio for reference
  • Your Unit 5 midterm reflection (for comparison)

Tips & Techniques

1Read your midterm reflection before writing this one — see how much you've grown
2Specific details make reflections powerful: 'when I was sewing the plushie and the seam kept splitting' beats 'when things were hard'
3It's okay to say something didn't work out the way you hoped — that's real artistic growth
4End with something forward-looking: what do you want to make next?
