Portfolio & Exhibition (Culminating Unit)
Curate. Present. Celebrate. Assemble your portfolio and prepare for the art show.
Vocabulary
Curation
The process of selecting, organizing, and presenting a collection of work. A curator makes intentional choices about what to include, what to exclude, and how to arrange what remains.
Portfolio MP1
A mid-point portfolio review — a selection of your best work from the first half of the year, presented and discussed before the final portfolio is assembled.
Exhibition
A public display of artwork. An exhibition is designed for an audience — presentation, labeling, and arrangement all matter.
Artist Statement (Portfolio)
A statement that introduces your portfolio as a whole — your artistic voice, your recurring themes, your growth over the year. Different from a single-work statement.
Art Show Submission
The formal process of submitting work for inclusion in a school or public art show — selecting, preparing, labeling, and delivering work according to show requirements.
Presentation
How work is displayed and framed for an audience. Presentation affects how work is perceived — the same piece can look amateur or professional depending on how it's presented.
Practice Webpage
A draft version of your portfolio webpage — built and refined before the final version is submitted. Practice webpages allow for feedback and revision.
